Show Transcript portrait of Skyhawk are 5 characteristics that we feel will equip students to be successful in whatever capacity they want to operate in the world so it's problem solving adaptability responsibility communication and critical thinking and by starting again in with our youngest Skyhawks in the earliest Elementary grades helping them understand what those skills are what they look like practice them be able to articulate um how they have strengths in those skills we believe that that will provide them a strong Foundation to be successful for the rest of their lives you know education is super important for everybody you know they it's it's the Foundation it's how you it's where you start to to be able to be successful in life down the road I think what's changed the most is just like the increased amount of technology so we use it for everything from diagnostic testing State Testing we're working toward you know building building the whole student as a person and not just a not just a number or not just you know here learn this material we're trying to build those soft skills as well our district is very present in our kids up because they meet them where they are and I just think that that we have multiple Pathways in our district that allows them to figure out early what type of careers that they want they teach us things that we're going to use I know probably a few people in my class want to be Engineers or they want to be be an artist like School teaches you what you're like it's actually things that you're going to use in our beautiful new building we have smartboards we have document cameras so the kids are able to write on the board with the smart pen they're able to show their work under the document camera and explain their thinking the kids all have Chromebooks so we're 1 to 1 so every kid has a Chromebook our curriculum is a Hands-On curriculum um we do a ton of labs we also utilize the anatomage tables so we can do look at different cases looking at you know different scans CT scans MRI scans I had a a kid last year we just got our tables last year she's at OU now and she's like we I was the only 1 in my group that knew how to use these tables so we got I was like the driver of the table so I already know how to use it and it's just kind of giving them that that edge that 1 up when they get to school um that they know already how to use the equipment that most of our universities are using in the healthcare Sciences most of them watch animations on how to use it we actually get to use it and they practice it since they're freshmen I like all the different opportunities that I've been given I think just the rigor of a lot of the classes that I'm taking because I'm doing CCP and AP and like advanced classes and I think just the sugar prepares you for like being ready for that type of like class work and class load and I like that I'm able to do those because when I'm going to be a freshman in college I'll technically be a sophomore just because of all the classes that I've taken and how will already be like get to that next level a lot of our kids when they come in they don't have those problem solving skills so getting them to problem solve think through certain situations being responsible getting them ready for the real world like right now talking about money and what are different ways that we can use money so connecting it to the real world and them being able to problem solve that way I love the most about where's the opportunity here there's so much things that you could do here here it's just great opportunity to get involved because you know clubs Sports those are all stuff that you see at the bottom of a college application or a job application so it preps me for the future I love fairborne I love the kids in Fairborn I love the community support behind us and it just means a lot to be here and I wouldn't trade it for the world faerber teachers really help you seed in what you to succeed for 1 big Community we're all here for each other and we all support each other no matter what strong schools are the foundation of a strong community and we are proud of the work that we're doing in Fairborn City schools and we recognize that it's not only going to benefit our students but our families and our community at large and that's exciting and it's a great time to be in Fairborn City Schools
