Important information for parents who have selected Option 2 Virtual
Hello Fairborn Families who have selected Option 2 Virtual through GCESC Online Collaborative,

If you have indicated that one or more of your children wish to be enrolled in Option 2 Virtual through the GCESC Online Collaborative, the next step in that process is for you to complete an enrollment form for your child(ren).  Each student selecting Option 2 Virtual must have this form completed for them. This enrollment form should be completed no later than Tuesday, Aug. 18 to assist us in completing the enrollment process.  If you have more than one student selecting the Virtual Option you will need to complete this form for each student.  We will use the information that you provide to enroll your child for classes in Lincoln Learning (K-5) or Edmentum (6-12) and provide more specific information to you regarding Virtual Learning.

Before school starts on Sept. 8, 2020 you will receive information regarding log-in to your child's Virtual Learning platform, any course material information, schedules, and contact information for your child's assigned Teacher Student Advocate. The Teacher Student Advocates will be Fairborn teachers who are assigned to groups of students to do check-ins for assignment progress, grade some assignments, record grades in Gradebook, answer student questions, and communicate with parents.

Your email contact is very important for us to continue to provide information directly to you regarding the Virtual Learning program during the first semester. We will continue to explore ways to enhance and support students in Virtual Learning.   We hope that you and your family continue to be healthy during this difficult time.

Please note if your child receives specialized services through an IEP, your choices will be reviewed by the IEP team  to ensure that all needed services are provided.  Changes may occur to your choice based upon IEP needs. You will receive specific information from your IEP team.

Grades K-5 Lincoln Learning
All students in grades K-5 will automatically be enrolled in Reading, Math, Science, & Social Studies.  A suggested materials list link is provided in the Enrollment form and below. Information on printed materials and chromebooks will be sent before school begins.

Grades 6-12 Edmentum
All students in 6-8 will make course selections in the Enrollment form.  BMS counselors will review Enrollment for alignment. If your child is enrolled in the Virtual program but has a class taught by a BMS or FHS teacher you will receive class time and directions for logging in to that class.  All other courses will be accessed through the Edmentum platform.

FHS Scheduling Protocol: After completing this enrollment form...

1. Students will be scheduled into the courses they registered for during the standard 2020-2021 scheduling process.  Students will NOT re-register for classes.

2. Any Honors, Advanced Placement (AP), American Sign Language (ASL), and/or Project Lead The Way (PLTW) course will be taught remotely by FHS teachers using the FHS teacher's online format. These courses will be automatically scheduled for the student.

3. All other courses will be taught through the Greene County Educational Service Center (GCESC)'s virtual learning platform, Edmentum.  If there is a GCESC course compatible with the FHS course, then that course will be automatically scheduled for the student as dictated by the "Crosswalk" chart (linked below).  If there is no GCESC compatible course, then the student's counselor will reach out to the student via their school email no later than August 21 in order to schedule alternative courses. If there is no response from the student by August 24, 2020, then the counselor will select course enrollment for the student. This is to ensure that the student is continuing to satisfy graduation requirements and is selecting course options that best meets their needs including college and career goals.

4.  If a student successfully completes the first semester (Part A) of a full-year GCESC course that is not offered at FHS, and returns to FHS second semester, then the student will be awarded one-half credit for the completed (part A) portion of the course.  When returning to FHS second semester, the student will be scheduled into the course(s) originally requested, if available and appropriate.

**Reminder:  The minimum enrollment for students is the equivalent of 6 courses each semester.  Maximum enrollments for a student can vary slightly depending upon the student's prior enrollments for the academic year and CCP participation.   Contact your counselor with any questions concerning minimum/maximum enrollments and graduation requirements.
