Fairborn participates in the DOD STARBASE program. All of Fairborn's 5th grade students attend this excellent program. DOD STARBASE is a premier educational program, sponsored by the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs. At DOD STARBASE students participate in challenging "hands-on, mind-on" activities in aviation, science, technology, engineering, math, and space exploration. They interact with military personnel to explore careers and make connections with the "real world." With School Resource Officers (SRO’s) in all buildings, students also learn teamwork, goal setting, and the importance of making good decisions. School Resource Officers offer workshops for parents about topics such as online safety for students, the use of social media today and cyber-bullying. The relationship between the school district and city is a strong partnership which benefits our families.
STEM Opportunities-
Fairborn has STEM courses at Baker Middle School and Fairborn High School-

district offers Project Lead the Way math curriculum at Baker Middle School and
STEM Science. Fairborn High School offers Engineering 101 and Biomedical
Science. These educational opportunities introduce students to the basics of
engineering and medicine and provide a strong foundation for the pursuit of a
career in one of these fields of study. Schedule a visit to our outstanding labs and
hands-on curriculum-preparing our students for the careers of the future!
All Day Kindergarten offered for all students
at Wright Campus-
Fairborn offers all-day kindergarten at the Wright Campus and at the Fairborn
Primary School. Our kindergarten program
model provides an extended day experience that allows our students time for
hands-on learning; time for guided practice; time for exploration; time for
self-development; and time for social interaction. Research studies indicate
that full-day kindergarten can lead to improved academic achievement and
nationally; many states and districts are offering full-day kindergarten. Research also shows that students in full-day
kindergarten have increased school success and that students in full-day
kindergarten are better prepared than those in half-day programs. Achievement
findings for full-day kindergarten students show a trend toward higher
achievement in literacy and mathematics!
Fairborn’s curriculum requirements meet or exceed the standards set by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and the Ohio Department of Education.
Fairborn High School offers an outstanding Air Force JROTC program. AFJROTC encourages its students to get involved in their local communities to help them become well-informed and helpful citizens. Each year’s Aerospace Science course work relates to a different theme. Examples are frontiers in aviation history, the science of flight, and the exploration of space. Aerospace Science is a combined social studies, applied science, and leadership development course sponsored by the United States Government. College-bound students can compete for an Air Force Academy nomination or an Air Force ROTC scholarship through their Air Force Junior ROTC unit.
Did you know? Fairborn High School graduates received over $6 million dollars in scholarship offerings last year!
