Joan Dautel honored

A former Fairborn City Mayor, Joan L. Dautel was also a teacher, coach and athletic director during her 35 year career with the Fairborn City Schools. Joan has been very active in the Fairborn community and was inducted in the FCS Hall of Honor in 2015.
In 1970, Dautel was hired to teach health, physical education and history and she taught at both Baker High School and Fairborn High School until she retired from the classroom in 1994.
Joan served as the FCS Athletic Direct...or from 1994-2005. She earned her Certified Athletic Administrators certificate in 2001. She was a member of the Fairborn Athletic Board of Control and served on the Rae Burick Women in Sports selection committee.
She was a board member of the National Association of Girls and Women's sports from 1976-1979 and wrote two articles for the Softball Guide "Are you Ready? Play Ball!" and "Shuffle Showdown."
Joan was an outstanding coach for numerous high school sports teams during her career. She was the coach for the girls' varsity softball team for twenty years and was chair person of the National Softball committee of the National High School Athletic Coaches Association.

Congratulations to Joan Dautel-and thank you for your service and commitment to Fairborn City Schools. The softball field scoreboard was dedicated in her honor.
