FHS Morning Announcements for Friday, February 23, 2018

On Monday, February 26, Student Congress will begin collecting donations for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s fundraising campaign. Bring in spare change and dollar donations to your Advisory, and place it in the boxes that have been provided. All donations will be collected from the Advisory classes on Thursday March, 8. The top two advisories that collect the most money will receive donuts on Thursday, March 15. If FHS reaches its schoolwide donation goal of $700, the advisory that collects the most money will receive a Pasta Party in addition to the donuts. So, start bringing in your donations beginning Monday and help your advisory get donuts AND a Pasta Party.

Attention first semester ceramics students: Everything is fired! You must come and get your things by Friday, March 9th. After Friday, March 9th, everything will be thrown away. Please come get your artwork! See Ms. MacFadyen if you have any questions.

In honor of Read Across America and the National Education Association 2018, FHS library staff are hosting a Book Tasting and transforming the library into the Skyhawks Bistro. The book tasting event highlights the exciting, new spring 2018 book collection. Students interested in reviewing the new book collection are advised to sign-up via their ELA teacher. Please return the completed sign-up sheet (please note attachment) by the end of the day TODAY.

Attention students interested in CCP at Sinclair who still need to complete their placement testing:

  • There will be placement testing nights at Sinclair's Huber Heights location on Monday, March 5, and Tuesday, March 6, from 5:00 until 7:00 pm on both evenings.

  • During these testing nights, students will be able to complete the Writeplacer (English) and/or the Aleks (Math) placement test.  We are asking that students have the online Sinclair CCP application completed and have their Parent Authorization Form turned in to the CCP office by this point.  Keep in mind that once submitted to Sinclair’s CCP office, the CCP application & the Parent Authorization form take 3-5 business days to process before a student is able to test.  If the student needs special accommodations for testing (i.e. students with an IEP), please direct the student to me or to Sinclair’s Disability Services office at 937-512-5113 before testing. Students will need to know their Social Security number and have a current email account to use.

Attention Sophomores: Class shirts are now available. Get an order form from your American History teacher and return it along with your prepayment either to Mrs. Clifton in the main office or to Mrs. Ruppert. Shirt orders are due Friday, March 2nd.

There will be a Prom Committee meeting immediately after school on Monday, February 26, in room 222.

The JROTC students and the National Honor Society students will hold an after school study table and tutoring session TODAY in the Media Center from 1:30 to 2:30. All are welcome to attend, especially if you need help in specific classes.

A 3-on-3 basketball tournament to benefit FHS After Prom will be held on Saturday, March 17, from 11 until 4 in Baker Memorial Fieldhouse. The concession stand will be open. This tournament is open to BMS and FHS students. There will be Free Throw, Dunking, and 3-Point contests. There will be gift cards and Skyhawk bobble heads for the winners. Alumni teams are welcome. You may register your team during lunches the weeks of March 5 through 9 and March 12 through 16. The cost is $30 per team or (if space is available) $35 on the day of the tournament.
