FHS Morning Announcements for Tuesday, April 11, 2017

The Fairborn Committee for AfterProm will meet again on Monday, April 10th at 6:30 p.m. in the FHS commons. Volunteers are needed to work the night of the event and the committee still needs gift card donations! We need to make it to 200 to make sure every Junior and Senior receives a gift! Drop your gift card off at the main office at FHS! Tickets for AfterProm will be sold April 25, 26, 27, 28 during all lunches in the FHS commons. Cost of tickets is $10.00. Come out for dancing, food, door prizes, mechanical bull and lots of fun!  NHS members must work at least one snack pack night. If you have not worked yet, you must sign up for April 19th, May 3rd, or May 24th. See Mrs. Wright or Ms. Gaudette in room 111. Also remember that your last monthly service hours are due the week we return from spring break. Forms are available in room 111. 

Yearbook Class applications for next school year are due Thursday, April 12th. If you received an application and do not turn it in by Thursday, you will be dropped from the class. Students were notified two weeks ago that this requirement must be met.

The Gay-Straight-Alliance club will meet on Thursday, April 13th, immediately after school in room 106. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Attention sophomores: Are you interested in running to be a junior class officer next year? Please see Mrs. Miller in room 222 for an application. Applications are due by 2:30 pm on Thursday, April 13.

The next payment for spring sports is due TOMORROW in the finance office. You must be up to date with payments in order to be eligible to play.

The next Spanish Club meeting is immediately after school TODAY.

The FHS Anime Club will meet in Room 106 TODAY and TOMORROW from 2:15 to 3:30.  

Media Club IS CANCELED for today. The next meeting will be Tuesday, May 2nd in room 310 from 2:15 to 3:00.

Study Tables will be held TOMORROW from 2:15 to 3:15 in room 223.

Art Club will meet in room 309 immediately after school TODAY.

Want to be part of school events like Unity Day and Homecoming? Apply to be part of Student Congress for the 2017-2018 school year! Student Congress applications will be available in the main office now through Friday May 5th.

There will be a mandatory Student Congress meeting in the Media Center TOMORROW from 2:15-2:30. See you then!

Attention Skyhawks: Is there a superhero story inside your brain just waiting to be told? Well, tell it in writing and submit it to the FHS Media Center in the box marked Superhero Short Story Contest. Prizes include Amazon Kindles plus some other cool stuff. Get a copy of the official rules and a cover sheet for your entry from your teachers, the Main Office, or the Media Center TODAY. The DEADLINE for entries is Wednesday, April 26th.

Hey Juniors and Seniors: The 2017 Prom is just around the corner and many of you have already started planning for it. If you plan to bring an out-of-district date to the Prom, then you must complete and turn in an out-of-district date form. You may get your form from your advisory room, from Mrs. Miller's room (222), or from the finance office.

Bring in your dollars and spare change to help us raise as much money as we can for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. There are boxes in your advisory rooms in which to deposit your donations. The advisory that collects the most money will receive breakfast courtesy of NHS. The last day to bring in your donation is TOMORROW.

The Varsity Baseball team and the Varsity Softball team will compete against the Stebbins Indians again TODAY at home beginning at 5:00. Baseball will play on the field at FHS and Softball will play on the field at Community Park East.

The JV Softball team AND the JV Baseball team will compete against the Stebbins Indians again TODAY, this time at Stebbins High School beginning at 5:00.

Boys Varsity Tennis will compete against the Piqua Indians at Piqua High School TODAY beginning at 4:00.

The last day to take advantage of the Skyhawk Shop’s $15 “two-fer” will be Friday, April 28th. Be sure to get your Skyhawk Tumbler AND black Skyhawk Nation t-shirt before the opportunity is gone.

The yearbook staff needs pictures from Sadies, any choir or band event, and senior trip. If you have some pictures that you could share, please see Mrs. Wright or any yearbook staff member ASAP.

Attention Juniors: Are you interested in running for a position as a Senior Class Officer? If so, you MUST attend a MANDATORY informational meeting immediately after school on Wednesday, April 5th, in Room 206 and sign-up to participate in the Senior Class of 2018 Officer Elections.

Attention all Interact Club members: There will be an Interact meeting after school in the senior dining hall next Thursday, April 6th.

Attention all students who attended this year’s Sadie Hawkins dance: Do you have any good Sadie Hawkins pictures? If yes, then please see Mrs. Ruppert or Mrs. Wright, so your pictures can be used in this year’s yearbook!

Fairborn High School has accepted the challenge of helping to find a cure for blood cancer! We are joining over 29,000 schools across the nation to make a difference and raise as much money as we can for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Beginning Monday, April 3rd, bring in your change and drop it into the boxes in our advisory room. The advisory class that collects the most money will have a breakfast provided one morning courtesy of NHS.

Attention boys interested in playing basketball next year: Official workouts have begun and will be held Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays throughout the rest of the school year. For an official schedule and information regarding summer camp, see Coach Chivington.


 

Attention all NHS members! The next meeting is Monday, April 3. There are many items on the agenda that need to be accomplished before the end of the year, so please plan to attend the meeting in room 116 immediately after school. Also, be sure that you have signed up to help with the snack pack program. It is mandatory that every member work one shift. Sign-up sheets are in room 111. The dates available are April 5, April 19, or May 10.

NHS members need to turn in their March community service hours to Ms. Gaudette or Mrs. Wright by 1:30 TODAY. If you have carryover hours, you still must submit a March form.

The Varsity Baseball team will compete against the Springboro Panthers TODAY at Springboro High School beginning at 5:00 pm.

The JV Baseball team will compete against the Springboro Panthers TODAY at FHS beginning at 5:00.

The Varsity Softball team will compete against the Cedarville Indians TODAY at Community Park East beginning at 5:00pm.

The JV Softball team will compete against the Cedarville Indians at Cedarville High School TODAY beginning at 5:00pm.

The Skyhawk Shop is currently offering this $15 “two-fer”: Buy yourself a Skyhawk Tumbler AND a black Skyhawk Nation t-shirt and get them both for just $15. Remember: The Skyhawk Shop is open only on Fridays.

NHS has free prom dresses available to anyone who needs one. These dresses have been donated by staff and Fairborn community members, so many have never been worn to a FHS prom! In fact, many of the dresses are still brand new with the tags intact. Please take advantage of this great opportunity and schedule a time with Mrs. Wright or Ms. Gaudette for a private viewing of this great selection.

Seniors may turn in another picture to use for the senior formal picture for the yearbook. The requirements include that it must be taken by a professional photographer and be an indoor head shot with a solid background. This picture must be submitted by April 7. Otherwise, the composite picture taken November 1st will be used.

Family or friends may purchase a senior patron ad for the 2017 yearbook. Forms are available outside the yearbook room 111 on the bulletin board or in the main office. The deadline for purchasing is April 7 at 2:30.
